I'm reading Saturday at the Wayward Coffeehouse in Seattle!

May. 13th, 2009 | 12:01 am

The Wayward Coffeehouse is a science-fiction coffeehouse in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle. Starting at 8 this Saturday, I'll be reading with SF writers Lancer Kind (http://lancerkind.com) and Tim McDaniel. The Wayward's going to be trying to make this a monthly thing, so come offer moral support!

If it's the place I'm thinking of, it seemed like a nice place when I was in it 3 or 4 years ago, but not particularly science-fictiony. Is that a recent thing for them?

Well, all the sandwiches and novelty coffee drinks are named after SF characters; there's all sorts of SFnal stuff on the walls, from con badges to movie posters; and they do SF movie nights. And the owner is a total Brownshirt. It doesn't look like SF at first glance, though.

I am sad that I will miss this, between the Norwescon meeting and the after meeting gathering it is not likely I will be back in the area until late.

I forgot to write you and ask you! You are AWESOME.

P.S. I wish that someone would have given a coin to the monkey in your icon, so he could have used the binoculars. I bet there was lots of stuff a monkey would want to see.

Monkeys like to see far. I bet he's just waiting for someone to give him a coin so he can look into the trees or city below, again. I think he likes what he sees down there, which is why he waits for more coins.

No peeking in windows, though.

So good to see you again. And I know I've told you before but I love those 26 Monkeys. It's so sweet, magical and just a little sad--but in a good way.
