I'm on the (preliminary) Nebula ballot!
Jan. 11th, 2008 | 11:21 am
The official announcement is out. "The Evolution of Trickster Stories Among the Dogs of North Park After the Change" from Coyote Road, is on the preliminary ballot. I think this is my first time.
Next step: SFWA members will get a preliminary ballot with this compete list. That vote will winnow the list down to six finalists in each category, which will be voted on (again) in a final ballot to pick a single work. The winners will be announced in April at the Nebula banquet in Austin. (Austin! If I get to the final ballot I am so going.)
SFWA members, if you would like to read "Evolution of Trickster Stories..", email me at username at gmail, and I can email you the file, or send you to a private link.

How do they decide what's a short story, what's a novella and what's a novelette? /ignorant
Edited cos I just saw the bit about Austin: I *miss* Austin. I miss the crack-laced salsa at Chuy's. Oh, and the zombie chicken sandwiches at Magnolias. Oh, and...well, all the food. And the drink. And the shops!

I sure don't recognize a lot of names there. I'm so out of touch. The only authors I've read on the list are Gene Wolfe and JK Rowling. Other than scripts, the only other names I've heard on the list are Michael Chabon and Joe Haldeman.
I watched a couple of hours of shooting of World Enough and Time, but it turns out it was a different production by the same title – a feature shot on film in Seattle.
