Until I get my internet connection at home worked out...

Jul. 30th, 2007 | 02:41 pm

...my only internet connection is at work -- and I'm not going to be at work much tomorrow since I have two doctor's appointments. I'm annoyed, but I can't complain too much, since I was pirating anyway, and knew I would be getting a connection once I got back from everything and it was worth paying for one.

Not that it's critical much. I can barely read my computer screen with these glasses anyway. I can read books all right, but I have no idea how I'm going to get my day job and classwork done when I can barely ready my laptop screen, and I can't read my work screen at all. Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that I lost my old glasses the day I picked these up.

Nibbled to death by fucking ducks.

On the bright side, my new icon is my much-loved sheltie, Bertie, long gone now. Yes, he was that adorable. I've been pretty lucky with my dogs.

Shelties are just about as good as it gets. (Birmans are too.)

They're so wonderful I am almost scared to talk about them too much, in case it might bring bad luck down on them...the way the East European Jews were afraid to praise a child too much for fear the evil eye would attack it. I have one. I would have liked more, but my husband wants just one dog and one cat. It makes sense because we also have a pit bull (the dog) and they have to be kept separate. The dog is very old and in frail health; the next dog has got to be cat-friendly, I have said.

Hey Missy. Eye things. Bleah. A handy tool on the keyboard (not sure if it works on Macs) is this: Hold down your control key and move your roller on your mouse, if you have one. This will give you instant zoom capabilities to varying sizes. It might work with the control button on the Mac. I discovered it accidentally and it's very effective for those of us with bad eyes.

However I know you're also talking about a prescription that's not working right and that it will be headache city if you have to deal with peering through murk.

Speaking of computers, I may not need your laptop. My boss is giving me his old Mac and I only have to buy a battery for it. Should it not work properly I'll let you know. But feel free to sell it elsewhere.

"Nibbled to death by fucking ducks."

Well...

At least that's better than being fucked to death by nibbling ducks.

I can barely read my computer screen with these glasses anyway.

sounds like the prescription is wrong, or at least wrong for that function. my spousal unit went through several iterations of glasses when she started down the bi-focals path 'fore she settled in to a pair of reading glasses (for reading books), a pair of computer glasses (that let her focus at monitor distance), and a pair of driving/going-to-the-movies glasses.

a decent eye dr will be happy to help provide a solution if you can describe the symptoms.
